After some breakfast we went to Dover Castle and spent the first portion of our day their. The castle was built by King Henry and inside the castle their was a section that talked about King Henry and his life and how he obtained so much power and conquered so many surrounding areas. Another part of the castle was set up with shields and flags as if it was still in use.
There was a little church right outside the castle. It was a cute little church that is still used for services.

After walking around the castle we went on a tour of the secret tunnels. The first picture is of us making our way down to where the tour begins and the second picture is after we had finished the tour. The tunnels were fun to go in. They had been used in the war against France as a place for the military to plot/plan missions and also a place to bring those who were injured. Having these facilities underground provided extra protection. In the tour you went through the different tunnels and listen to voice recordings of people portraying life as it might have been during the war. They even had the lights flicker on and off at different times.
After we were finished at Dover Castle we went to the White Cliffs (about a 5 minute drive from the castle). The White Cliffs are literally that--white cliffs. It has to do with the different minerals in the area that make the rock a white color. They are pretty cool to see. We took a little hike about half way down the cliffs. We could have kept going but we were all pretty tired from the days activities. After following the trail halfway down we took a little break and then followed the trail back up.

After we were finished hiking the white cliffs we headed back to the car. Before leaving Joseph and Emerson played with the rocks in the parking lot. (The last picture is not just a picture of the rocks. If you look close enough you might be able to see something more.) When we were finished with everything at Dover we made the trek back home.
