Church History Sites

The next day after our nice relaxing night at the resort we went for a little drive to go and see some church history sites. The first place we went to is the Gadfield Elm Chapel. This is the first chapel that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints had to call their own and meet in. Today it is more of a tourist attraction and does not hold regular services, but on occasion people will use it for firesides and other meetings.

Inside they had costumes that you could put on and do little skits with. It was only the four of us so we didn't have enough to do any acting, but we did play a little dress up.

In the chapel Emerson had fun rearranging the hymn books. It was a nice little chapel and we had a nice time listening to the history of this little building and the many important events and special moments that have happened in that tiny building.

After the chapel we drove to Bembow's Farm another church history site. At this farm many of the first people to join the church out here in England were baptized in a pond on property.

Emerson was very insistent that he touch the water "where all the people's were baptized." Afterwards he said it was COLD.

We had a nice little outing and time together as a family. Hopefully we will have many more outings to share about in the coming months.

The Long Weekend

This past holiday weekend we had scheduled to go to Spain, but being the little monkey that he is Emerson hurt his foot and we didn't think it would be best to travel with him not 100%. So with Spain rescheduled and a long weekend ahead of us we decided to do a little overnighter at a resort south of where we live. Emerson was doing a lot better by Friday so we made the trip up and enjoyed a nice relaxing night at the resort.

The next day we spent some time playing outside before checking out of the hotel. Canyon had fun sitting on a bench watching Stephen and Emerson run around. After playing outside for a while we checked out of the hotel and went and saw some church sites before heading home.

Happy Valentines Day!

On valentines day Emerson and I did a little coloring and made valentines for daddy while Canyon was napping. Emerson really likes to draw and color and we had a lot of fun together. Emerson colored this cute moster picture for Stephen.

Emerson was really excited when daddy came home because I had printed out a little maze for them to do together. We also got to open our valentines when daddy got home and eat some chocolate.

For dinner we had stromboli (variation of pizza) which was a perfect meal for my two pizza eaters. Emerson does a good job at taking after his daddy. ie Love for pizza and rice krispy treats.

Bowling

The friday before valentines day Stephen was scheduled to go bowling with some other men from church for a little activity. The activity got canceled and we decided that we would go as a family instead. We invited our friends to come along with us and had a great time. Emerson loves to bowl. We've gone a couple times lately and he just thinks it is the coolest thing. Here is Thomas helping Emerson roll the ball down the slide. After Emerson would push the ball down the slide he would run back to where everyone else was, turn around and watch to see how he had done. He was so cute.

Here is Canyon hanging out with Sarah. He slept through most of the first game.

And the two teams. First the girls team: Heidi, myself, and Sarah. Then the boys team: Stephen, Emerson, Murray, and Thomas.

The boys beat us, but they had Emerson on their team which was an unfare advantage.

Dinner Time Fun

Dinner time is usually pretty entertaing over here. The other day while I was cleaning up Canyon managed to get a lid to his baby food stuck to his forehead. It made Emerson laugh and laugh, which then made Canyon laugh and laugh. Emerson also had a couple spoons that he turned into "special seeing goggles" while eating dinner. What crazy, fun children we have.

Freedom!

The other day we were getting to leave to go somewhere and as we were getting things into the car we left the door open. Canyon saw the open door, let out a laugh, and then raced for the door. It was so cute! I couldn't help but snap a couple of pictures before I chased after him. He is really loving being able to get around.

Farewell Dinner

Last week we went out for dinner with Stephen's co-workers for a farewell to two people leaving his shop. It was a nice evening socializing and eating some really good food. The place we ate at was pretty interesting. They brought out your raw meat on a really hot stone (400 degrees!) and then you cooked it yourself. We had some steak and it was super tasty.

Since they didn't have any high chairs, Stephen had to keep watch of the boys on one side of him while I cooked the food. They boys did really good, though I think it could have been a better place to go for a romantic dinner for two instead (hint hint).

There were two other boys there about Emerson's age and they all had fun playing together.

Afternoon Walk

I took the boys for a walk last week to see our little town. We walked from our housing area down the hill to the main part of the village. I wanted to take pictures but my battery died before I could take many. Well to be honest, I just got this one. It's not even that good but I thought I'd throw it on anyways. After I realized my battery had gone from my camera I turned around and walked back. Soon we'll try again and have a full battery on our camera. The boys seemed to enjoy the walk. Canyon was in the front wide-eyed and taking everything in, while Emerson fell asleep in the back.

Super Bowl Monday

We had a little super bowl party the Monday after the super bowl. Stephen had the day off so we spent the morning doing a couple little projects around the house (we both stayed away from the computer so we wouldn't find out the results of the game) and then went to our friends for dinner and the game. We ate some tasty hamburgers and corn dogs for dinner.

After dinner we watched the game. Well I say we but I really mean all the boys. The girls hung out and made cards during the game.

I was told that it was a pretty good game. We had a really fun evening socializing, eating, watching the superbowl, and more eating.

Me Next!

Emerson thought that the wooden crate that Canyon was sitting in while I was taking pictures look pretty fun, so after I had taken some pictures of Canyon, Emerson wanted a turn. (Worked out great because I was planning on taking his picture next.) So here are some of Emerson. I love how he looks very mischievous in some of these pictures. They capture him true to form.
