Adventures in the Crib
The front part of Emerson's crib folds down to make it easier to get him in and out. Ever since we moved his mattress down to the lowest level we have left the front part of the crib folded down because I am not tall enough to lean over when it is fully extended and pick him up/put him in. This practice might need to change however. Yesterday when I went in to get Emerson out of his crib after a nap I found him standing up walking around to the back side of his crib while holding on to the sides. Ah the adventures of continuing mobility.

More Pictures From Emerson's Party
Emerson and His Cake
Emerson's First Birthday Party
Today we had Emerson's birthday party to celbrate him turning one (which will happen in two Sundays). We had a barbeque with some friends and the weather was surprisingly cooperative. Emerson loved all the attention and getting sung to.

Surprise at the Palace
Last Saturday Stephen had a surprise planned for the family. We drove down to Wood Green which is outside of London to a palace. Alexandria Palace to be precise. The palace is very old and it and the grounds that surround it are now being used as a community park. There is a golf green, and a lake where you can fish or take out boats, and some nice paved walks. Inside one half of the palace is an ice rink and the other half is a big room that they use for balls and conventions. It was this second half of the palace that held a wonderful surprise within it. It just so happened that they were holding a scrapbooking convention where tons and tons of vendors were set up showing various techniques and selling all sorts of merchandise. The day was so much fun and I just tried to absorb all that was there as well as come back home with a few things. How lucky it was that the annual scrapbooking convention was going on that Saturday.
Egg Decorating
The Friday before Easter we all decorated some eggs. Emerson was really into it and was such a big helper. He helped organize all the cups and get everything out of the box. He also chose what color he wanted his egg to be. After we had died our eggs we took craft paint and squirted it onto our eggs so that our eggs were speckled. Emerson really liked that part. Here are some photos from our egg decorating party.

Easter Sunday
We had a nice quiet Easter Sunday this year. Stephen had meetings in the morning so we waited until after church to do our egg hunt. When we got home Kristine was ready for the egg hunt but Emerson wanted a nap, so the egg hunt got postponed until after dinner. Emerson really like the plastic eggs with jelly beans inside them but wasn't as keen of the real eggs. We managed to get a few family photos in as well.

An Egg That Makes Noise? Cool!
We wanted to show you what Emerson did when he spotted the plastic egg on the coffee table.
Emerson and his Easter Eggs
Emerson wasn't sure how he felt about his easter eggs. Maybe it was because they were still cold.

Emerson and his Easter Basket
Well we couldn't find any Easter baskets to put the goodies into but I don't think Emerson cared too much.
Baby Food Vs. Yogurt
The reviews are in and the critics agree, why eat baby food when there's yogurt. So Emerson has never really been a fan of baby food and as he has continued to get older he has been getting less and less tolerant to eating it. About a week ago Kristine was eating some yogurt and Emerson was really interested in what she was shoveling into her mouth so she let Emerson try some. The first time he let her put it on his lip and then the next time she put the spoon in front of him he opened his mouth up wide! A miracle? We think so. And the even bigger miracle is that it has been over a week and he is still very willing and eager to eat his yogurt.

One Month to Go
Emerson turned eleven months old yesterday and now is only one month away from his first birthday. Where has the time gone? It really has just flown by and it sometimes seems like he has always been here yet other times it seems like it was just yesterday when we were taking him home from the hospital. He is our little adventurer and always finding something new to get into. He is also our little dare devil and laughs whenever you tip him upside down or throw him up into the air. He is our little cuttlebug and does a wonderful job at snuggling with us and giving us hugs. He is starting to get a little more balance when he is standing up and has gotten very good at walking along the furniture. Last night he was doing laps, side stepping around the coffee table. He has also started pointing at the things that he wants (usually daddy). Our favorite 'new thing' that Emerson has started doing is dancing. It is really cute and he does it both when he's standing or when he's sitting. But instead of taking our word for it when thought you might like to see for yourselves.
