Happy Halloween

Saturday night we had a Halloween carnival and trunk or treat at the church. It was the first year that Emerson really understood what was going on. It was so fun to see his excitement when he realized that all he had to do was go up to someone and say 'trick or treat' and then they would put candy into his little bag. After each car he would ask if there were more cars to go to. It was really cute. I only ended up taking a couple of pictures because I had to help with the activity. The one below is of Emerson after finishing the trunk or treat.

We're Back

Yes we're alive! - Though I don't have any pictures of the past couple weeks to prove it, so I guess you'll just have to take my word for it. We had a lovely vacation in the states and then spent a lot of time trying to get back to England via a military flight. And I could tell you a big long story about all of our adventures but I think instead I will just say that it was crazy and luck didn't every seem to be on our side. We have however made it back to England and now that jet lag is over we are back into the routine of things - for the most part. It was great to spend time with family, we wish we could of seen all of our family and are also happy to be back home amongst friends. So that's the past two or three weeks in a nutshell and now we will hopefullly be a bit more consistent with our blogging.

Big Brother, Little Brother

Emerson is the 'big brother' in our family and Canyon the 'little brother' but sometimes I think that Emerson is the 'little' brother and Canyon is the 'big' brother. Emerson is so petite and tiny next to Canyon and there is two years between them! The other night Emerson wanted to hold Canyon and I just couldn't get over how big Canyon looked next to Emerson and how tiny Emerson looked next to Canyon. I think it's fun.

Calvert County Fair

Last Friday night we went to the Calvert County Fair. The fairgrounds were just a short drive up the road from where Papa lives and the weather was nice so we went out to see all the animals. First we went over to see the cows and this big girl wanted to say hello while I was trying to take some photos of Emerson and Nana.

Then we did the goats and sheep and pigs. Emerson had fun giving all the animals a good scratch.

We found this horse for Emerson to ride before heading over to the chickens and bunnies.

After a break for some food Emerson went on a couple of rides. My mom mentioned how fearless Emerson was. The faster the ride went or the more it spun the more he liked it.

And we also found some ponies. This was Emerson's first ride on a pony and he loved it, smiling and laughing the whole time.

Canyon slept through the first part of the fair and then later on woke up and became very interested in Papa's popcorn. (Since then Canyon has started reaching for any food that's close to him - especially drinks.)

Photo Op with Nana and Papa

One of the nice sunny days that we had while visiting I took a couple pictures of the boys and their grandparents. The few with Nana had a lot of character to them.

And I thought this one was quite precious.

By the time it was Papa's turn Emerson was getting tired of taking pictures, but I managed to get this cute one.

Papa and Emerson don't look the greatest in this photo but it is one of the only ones where Canyon is smiling.

The group shots where a little tricky and no one photo has everyone looking perfect but there were a few that weren't bad.

Canyon and Papa

I don't know what it is but Papa has a way with babies. They could be screaming and crying but a look or cuddle from Papa makes everything better. Here are just a couple pictures of Canyon and Papa hanging out together.

An American Delicacy

One morning for breakfast we had doughnuts. Emerson has only had English doughnuts before and they are quite different. In the states they are very sugary and sweet. I let Emerson pick out his very own doughnut and he chose this yummy chocolate doughut with sprinkles. He thought that it was very yummy and ate it all gone without hesitation.

The Boys

Here are some pictures of Papa and his boys. I think Emerson spent a little too much time with his Uncle TJ (he wouldn't make a serious face the whole time I was trying to take pictures).

Papa's Big Helper

While we've been visiting Papa's house, Emerson has been Papa's big helper. They have worked out in the yard together and done some projects around the house as well. These are a couple of pictures of Emerson helping Papa fix the bouncy chair for Canyon. (I just noticed that you can see Canyon in the background crying)
