More Photos From Father and Son Campout
Here are a couple more photos from the campout Stephen and Emerson went on last weekend. (Stephen said that Bishop was anxious to get another photo on our blog.)

Savory and Sweet
Now that Emerson has been eating solids (mainly yogurt and bananas) for a little while now we have been trying to introduce other foods to him, especially starchy foods like pastas and other grains. This was a rather unsuccessful event until Kristine got the crazy idea to try putting these starchy foods into vanilla yogurt. Crazy as it may be it has proven to be very successful. I don't know if it is the sweet taste or the smooth texture but it's working; so far this week Emerson has had chicken noodle dinner, chicken and vegetable dinner, turkey and rice dinner, macaroni beef tomato and turkey and sweet potatoes. On the menu for tomorrow? Beef and vegetable dinner? I think that's the only meal we haven't tried.

Emerson and the Dirt Devil
This evening we got out the dirt devil to vacuum up a couple things on the floor and when we turned it on Emerson laughed and came racing towards it. After we were done using it we gave it to Emerson to play with. He started pushing it back and forth along the carpet. We decided since he seemed to know what he was doing we'd turn it on and put him to work. You can never start to early....right?
Emerson's Organizational Skills
This evening Stephen was holding Emerson and they were looking at all the books on the bookshelf. Emerson decided that he wanted to rearrange the books. It was really funny, he went through and kept pushing all the books back so that they touched the backside of the bookcase. After Emerson was done I caught Stephen putting all the books back in their proper place. Maybe one day they will have the same opinion on how to organize things.

Father Sons Campout
Stephen and Emerson went on their very first 'Father Sons Campout' this weekend. Stephen got back home on Friday around 5:30 pm and I had the car all loaded up for them, so after a quick bite to eat they were off. They had a pretty good time though Emerson was being a little clingy so he wouldn't let Stephen give him to anyone else. They did smores Friday night and hung out with some other men from the ward, then they went to bed. Emerson wanted to sleep with daddy and slept pretty good, but Stephen was afraid of squashing Emerson so he didn't get much sleep. The next day they woke up and made a big breakfast, had a devotional (which Emerson slept through), and then got packed up to come home. I think they had fun though it sounds like it was a bit exhausting.

Big Winner
On Wednesday Kristine and Emerson went to an activity at the church. A lady had come up from Peterborough to teach how to do flower arrangements. It was really interesting to learn and watch and Kristine now has another new hobby....exciting. And if all that wasn't enough to make it a worth while evening Kristine won one of the flower arrangements that were made that evening.

Emerson's Fifth Tooth
Emerson's fifth tooth broke through yesterday and we can see tooth number six making an effort to come through as well. He is such a little trooper. We'll try and post a picture when it has come down a little farther.

Hamerton Wildlife Park
Today was a relatively nice day for England so we decided to take advantage of it and took a trip to the zoo. Emerson seemed to enjoy his first trip to the zoo. He liked looking at the more active animals like the monkeys and birds. We think that his favorite must of been the cheetahs because when he saw them he started clapping. It was a very fun outing.
My How You've Grown
We had Emerson's one year check up this week and they took all his measurements and we thought it would be fun to post them along with his birth measurements.

Happy 1st Birthday Emerson!
Emerson turned one on Sunday. We can't believe how quickly the time has gone by. It's really funny how it seems like Emerson has always been with us but at the same time it seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital. We have loved every minute that Emerson has been in our life thus far and are very excited to be his parents. He is such a sweet, smart, fun boy and life is never a dull moment with him around. His added mobility has added to his curiousity and he is always getting into new things. And once he starts to walk we are sure that will just add to the craziness of it all. What a joy and blessing this past year has been.
