Just A Couple Pictures

Just a couple pictures that I took of the boys recently.

The lovely blue background is Emerson's room. We painted it a couple weeks ago.

Crawling...Almost

Here are a few pictures of Canyon last week. He was trying to work out how to crawl. He could get on all fours pretty well from the sitting position but after that it wasn't connecting. He's a getting pretty good at crawling now. It's a cross between an army crawl and an inch worm. I love how in this first picture he totally looks like he knows what he's doing.

Bubble Time

A couple weeks ago I had planned to go to the commissary and do some grocery shopping after Stephen got home from work so that he could have some time to work on a few things. I got all the kids ready to go and in the car and I couldn't find my wallet. I looked all over the house, checking a couple places twice. Searched both the cars and checked my diaper bag. Unsuccessful I then unload the kids. Since we couldn't leave the house I thought maybe what I needed was to entertain the boys. What better way to keep them distracted then with bubbles.

This was Canyon's first encounter with bubbles. I think he was impressed. He watched them very intently but never tried to touch them.

We had a great time. I loved sitting there watching the boys get such joy from a very simple thing like bubbles. (Oh and I found my keys the next day. They were in the diaper bag.)

New Year's Eve

We got invited over to our friends for new year's eve. We went over and ate some yummy fondue and socialized and played some games. It was a lot of fun. Emerson had a great time playing with a bunch of other kids.

When it got closer to midnight we watch some pre-firework shows. Then after the clock struck midnight we watched some really good fireworks that were set off in London around the London Eye.

This might have been the first new year's since Emerson was born that we've actually stayed up. Wow! Makes us sound like a couple of oldies.

Temple Trip

We took a trip to the temple the Wednesday before the new year. We had a lovely time. Thursday morning the boys and I hung out while Stephen spent some time in the temple. It was pretty cold so we didn't spend too much time outside on the grounds. (The pond was frozen it was so cold.) I did mange to get a couple cute pictures of the boys while we were outside.

It was so nice to be at the temple and feel of the peace that the Spirit brings there.

Superheros!

Emerson and Canyon wanted to thank their superhero cousins for their super cool superman pjs. Thanks! They are super cute.

The Night Before Christmas

We had an interesting 'Night before Christmas'. It was somewhat like the book tells it. "It was the night before Christmas....not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...The children were nestled all snug in their bed, while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads." We went to bed with everything calm and quiet and then in the middle of the night I was awake feeding Canyon and heard Emerson coming out of his room. "When out on the lawn there arouse such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter." (So it was actually the landing upstairs instead of the lawn.) Emerson started heading for the stairs and I got nervous that he might fall down them so I woke Stephen up. He was not fully awake. And only recognized my nervousness and then saw Emerson near the stairs. So he jumped out of our bed and raced to get Emerson before anything happened. On his was out of our room he ran into the wall. (He says that it jumped out in his way...but either way he hit it hard.) Frustrated at the wall (remember he's not completely awake) he kicked the wall as hard as he could. He must have kicked it pretty hard because the impact knocked him clear off his feet and sliding right towards Emerson and the stairs. Emerson was fine and safe but we can't say the same for Stephen's foot. Pretty sure at least one of his toes is broken. Most of the remainder of the night, instead of "sugar plums" dancing around in Stephen's head it was immense amounts of pain and nausea. The pictures don't do it justice, but you get the idea.

Christmas Day!

Christmas morning started with our whole family coming into our bed and cuddling together while we read the story of Christ's birth. Then we went downstairs to find presents under the tree and stockings on the couch.

It was really cute to watch him grab the toys out of his stocking. Of couse the very next thing he did with them all was stick them in his mouth.

Emerson really got the hang of Christmas this year and opening up all the presents.

We also spent most of the day talking to family on the internet. We are very greatful to our family. And grateful that we can keep in contact with them even when we are so far away.

After stockings we started opening presents under the tree. Both Emerson and Canyon were really good at ripping the paper off. We did have to be careful with Canyon however, because he wanted to stick all the paper in his mouth.

Christmas Pajamas!

This year we all opened a present before going to bed on Christmas Eve. For some strange reason we all opened pajamas (imagine that). Here are some photos of Canyon in his new pajamas before going to bed on Christmas Eve. (If you look close you can see some little tooth nubs in him mouth.)
