A couple weeks ago we stopped at an English Heritage site on our way to the temple. The site was for a very old roman villa here in England. The house was mostly in ruins, but had been preserved by building around the villa and enclosing it inside a 'museum'. It was very neat to see what was left of the villa as well as to learn about roman culture and its impact on English culture.
This is a picture of a tile mosaic that was on the floor of the roman villa. I think it's pretty amazing how much of it is still intact. They had an area where you could make your own mosaic picture. The first two pictures are from the mosaic I started and then the other two are from the mosaic after Stephen and Emerson altered it a bit.
This is the Lullingstone Castle. We had planned on going in after the Roman Villa, but it wasn't open. I took a couple of photos of it anyways before we left. If you can enlarge the first photo you will see that Emerson is doing a funny pose for the camera. (He is such a character.)
This last photo is of the church on the castle grounds. It's kinda cute and quaint looking. After the castle we all piled back into the car and drove to the temple. It was a beautiful day for a fun family outing.
